I eventually sought out the services of a chiropractor in Redding after waking up one morning about two months ago only to notice significant numbing on one side of my face. I wasn’t too alarmed at first as I often awake with various aches and pains due to sleeping on an old mattress. When the numbness didn’t go away, then I got alarmed. I thought I might have had a stroke, so I went to the emergency room. They couldn’t find anything wrong. The numbness persisted. I thought it might be some type of neuropathy, but my doctor said no.
I didn’t know what to do, really. How do you make numbness go away when all the doctors are saying there isn’t anything wrong? I was discussing my problem with a friend and they suggested visiting a chiropractor. I thought that was nonsense because my back didn’t hurt, but they said chiropractors don’t just deal with back pain, but also neck pain and that my problem could be the result of a pinched nerve in my back or neck that is manifesting itself in my face. It did make sense once I thought about it, so I looked online for a reputable chiropractor and made an appointment.
I went in and they asked all sorts of questions about my health and things such as whether I used narcotic or alcohol on a regular basis. Once we got that out of the way, the chiropractor examined me and confirmed that I had some dislocation in my neck that was likely the culprit. A couple of appointments and adjustments later and the pain just up and vanished! He moved my neck in a certain way and the numbness just immediately went away as though it never existed. I’m a firm believer in chiropractors now.
